Welcome to Voilà The Budget by Priscilla

I turned to the internet for answers.

In 2016, after graduating from law school in New York City — having completed my studies in France and England — I began my career in a U.S. federal agency. Excited to start this new phase of adulthood in Washington D.C., I was convinced my law degrees and new job would automatically unlock the door to financial success. Spoiler: they didn’t.

I had no savings, mediocre credit, no investments, and little control over my spending. But what really pushed me to take charge of my finances was the massive debt I had racked up — nearly $180,000. Like many millennials, I turned to the internet for answers.

I remember typing “how to get out of debt” into Google and discovering personal finance content created by women who were engaging, relatable, and educational. This new world of knowledge introduced me to budgeting, saving, investing, credit building, and, most importantly, how to pay off debt efficiently.

By the end of 2021, I launched my Instagram account @Voilathebudget to share what I was learning and document my journey to becoming debt-free. I built an engaged and supportive community — my “VTB fam” — and began offering budget templates ranging from free to low-cost.

A zero-based budget helped me pay off over $25,180 in the first year and a half while navigating life between Paris and NYC. Since then, I have repaid $154K, reached positive savings, improved my credit score, and am on a mission to help others do the same.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my work. I invite you to explore my website and discover how we can best work together on your path to financial freedom!
